Qualifications and Leon’s approach to counselling.
Leon Millingen BA (Hons) MBACP
I am an Integrative Counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)
I work integratively, depending on what responds best with clients. The sessions are usually client led and I will help you find positive ways of dealing with your issues of concern.
Currently I am working with severely addicted gamblers at a residential treatment centre in London and have a specific interest in working with people with gambling issues, and also those affected by their addiction.
I also have experience working with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques.
My approaches are humanistic, meaning I believe that a good therapeutic relationship of trust, confidentiality and safety will enable the client to feel safe to explore thoughts and feelings.
I also work psychodynamically and believe that a lot of issues can be helped by delving into the history of the client and making sense of where current thoughts and behaviours come from and what may trigger them.
I have worked with a wide range of issues, including (but not exclusively) depression, self esteem, suicidal thoughts, relationships, gender issues, anxiety, problem gambling, anger and workplace issues.
